Our Mission

What does faith mean these days? With so many voices and many more pressures, faith is quickly receding not only in the overall population, but even in the language that those of us with some measure of faith speak. Yet, questions of faith seem to always be there, just below the surface, even when our minds will ignore or, more often, deny the entire discussion.

The internet needs another Christian blog just about as much as we all could use another hole in our faces. However, the internet could always use another place devoted to wrestling with the travails of “real life” (aka life offline) and maybe trying to think a little harder on what matters most.

Along the way, life tends to get difficult and messy. As the media world seems to careen towards greater despair and hate, sometimes we all just need a channel that doesn’t contribute to the us versus them narrative. We come from a tradition of faith that teaches a couple of profound truths that transcend that simple paradigm.

We do accept the status of Jesus the Christ as savior of humanity and the Son of God. Jesus came into the world as a man and experienced a form of temptation that every human being will experience. He overcame them all and took the profane and made it sacred. Startlingly this is also the charge that Jesus left with his disciples to carry down through the ages.

It’s not about us being perfect, but rather what we are being made into something greater. Modern life assumes you are something you define, like a sex or fan. The good news of Christ, at the most simple level, rejects that assumption for the knowledge that we are foremost in Christ, but that we are also being reformed and reshaped by the Creator to be something more.

Believe it or not, Christianity is all about living the life. Quite unlike the world’s other great religions, there is nothing you can do to obtain this mysterious thing called grace. All of the other paths out there send you down the trail of impossible rules, regulations, and frequently broken guidelines. Christianity offers a long list of what you can do as opposed to what you cannot do. It explains that God knows you and happens to love you just as you are – like family. There is no cleaning up to God to God; He simply took care of that part for us.

Graced.Me’s primary purpose is to bring people to Jesus in a simple way and get out of the way. What matters in life is not slogans and choices, but that we are faithful in the little things that will eternally lead to bigger things. We try to have grace and a little salt along the way.

Colossians 4:2-6

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
